WTF? This is literally the second time in three months that I’ve had to get a new CC number. What vendor is handing this info out?!

I’m assuming you’re already being careful, but just to be sure... Do you check for skimmers at gas stations?

How exactly do you spot skimmers, btw? I had to get a new card about a month ago, no idea what happened. I almost always get my gas at the same place, so unless they sat on it for ages I don’t don’t think that’s it.

Get rid of credit card and debit card... just ask your boss for cash payments. Keep cash under mattress. Let me know where you live

I think you’re supposed to grab the reader and jiggle it. I always forget until after I put the card in.

OK, but what am I trying to identify with that?
The place I usually go has the sort that are molded right into the body of the pump though, so is there any way they can mess with that?

I love the last bit of advice on this one...

Couple examples below. It typically looks like a bumped out extra add on if you’re paying attention. It’ll match the pump normally, but be bigger than it should be:
Also keep an eye out on the pump seals (if equipped, some don’t use these):

It’s either the hooker vendor or the crack vendor, IMO.

I went through this a bunch last year. I always suspected a car wash. Since I’ve stopped using my cc there, my cards haven’t gotten jacked.
Think of the sketchiest place you use regularly, start using cash there.
*Edit: One time when my cc numbers got stolen, the person/people went to Red Lobster and Walmart one night in Georgia. Classy people.

Are there any non-major online vendors you do business with using your CC directly? I had a similar problem and I found out that one of the small online vendors I buy from has a security issue on their site that they won’t admit to (read a post on reddit about this particular vendor and then used a CC I rarely use for 2nd purchase, fraud 4 days later).

Yep, but I don’t use this card for gas.

Done, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

It could be worse. They could be using your identity, which is a lot less fun to fix than having to get a new cc number. But seriously, you might check to make sure no one is also using your identity.

There is a reason I never use my debit card online.

Mr. Trump, tax payers pay for all your shenanigans. You don’t need to use credit card.

Indeed. I’ve stopped using my debit card a lot of places. If something goes wrong, it is so much easier to deal with on a credit card.

Lots of online purchases?
Maybe a keylogger?
